So, alas my weekends rapidly diminish. I get to fit in three hours of
drama rehersals, four hours of extra classes, studying for SACs, a
movie night, lunch with the family and driving from Geelong and back.

So Apple has just announced the awesome new 3GS iPhone, which I really want. I know there is a lot of contention around iPhones and I'm not really a Mac fan but I just love the iPhones. I loved them when they first came out and after steeling my friend's iPhone for the billionth time I decided that one would work for me just fine. This all coincides nicely with the fact that my phone sucks. Its battery is so dead that it'll go from saying it's full to dying without warning, freezing constantly and just generally being unreliable. However, I still love it to pieces and refuse to buy a new one until it dies completely.

So you may ask, what is the polemic here? Weeeeelllll, I like new things. Apple releases new iPhones regularly , who is to say that the next one won't blow my new 3GS out of the water?

Well, to be honest, I will adore Zooey Deshanel but when I heard she has not only a wonderful voice but also an album out I had no choice but to search high and low for it. Although it is a little hard to come by, this album was really worth the wait. Zooey isn't one of those 'pop' people who have beautiful voices but no character. Her voice is warm and rich and more than a little mesmerizing. The songs sometimes feel a little like throwbacks to older styles but have a vibe that makes them beautifully modern as well. Through honest and raw recordings the nature of these songs is really wonderful. I absolutly recomend it to anyone, but if you liked Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, all the better!

Well, on my mothers birthday in early January we all went on a trip to the zoo. Now This was wonderful until I leaned over the lake of turtles and things to see and had my beloved sunnies fall right off. Now I love my John Lennon glasses. You have no idea. They make me look like a total fool but I wear them anyway. I was naturally devastated. I really was about to cry and everything. Somewhere at the bottom of that lake lives the coolest turtle ever, all because he has my glasses. However, on the weekend I FINALLY got a new pair! I love them so much, I bought them on Saturday and I haven't stopped wearing them yet!
Do you think there's some kind of record for that?

Well, I was bored, the blog is ugly and I don't have photoshop on this computer. So, I have downloaded GIMP a.k.a the GNU Image Manipulation Program. First of all I have to say that not only was it incredibly easy to download, it has amazing support in the form of communities and especially tutorials. I highly recommend gimp-tutorials.net for anyone wanting to use it.
Now onto the works of art. I'd love to hear what you think as some of these could end up as templates for the blog when I finally get around to designing it and getting hosted.
First up
I made this one from a tutorial at the aforementioned site and I found it really came out the way I wanted. This was the only tutorial I took and personally I found it gave me a lot of skills I can use in my creative madness.This was really just messing around with different gradients and as everyone knows I have a terrible, crippling addiction...
to colour.
Well, what can I say? See it as taking the colour train to it's natural stopping point ;)


Well, I'm not actually sure how this evolved, it's a real internet trend to have coloured flames and although I hate following the pack, I do like colour. I personally didn't like the way that this one turned out in comparison to the others. I was going for more of a wispy ethereal kind of a look which didn't really transpire. I do hope to revisit the concept and get it right
I really love the way this one materialised. It was actually the first one I did after the tutorial but it really feels like it's in a whole other ballpark. I recommend viewing it in it's larger form as the depth is lost when it's shrunk. As you can see I really just applied the concept of the original orb with different colours and an overlay of a brush pattern I downloaded. I can't take credit for that but after seeing the yellow creation in the corner the light just seemed right. I claim inspiration from Ariel's voice in The Little Mermaid.

Well I hope I will have some more for you soon but for now?

Well on Monday my lovely horse and I had an accident. Whilst grooming my lovely equine after an eventful ride, I ducked around the front as I am wont to do. I prefer it because it's faster and usually safer but Jedda ducked her head just at the wrong time and hit the back of my skull with her jawbone

Yay! I am homewards bound tomorrow! I wanted to discuss some Maths. I am angered on many points mathwise.

Cause of Anger One

The variability of variables. I have gone to American International Schools most of my life and enjoyed a fairly constant notation system in spite of jumping back and forth between years and missing long division. As soon as I returned to Australia however I am told that Pythagorean Theory states that in a triangle

a^2+b^2=H^2

Now what on earth is this? Every good kid knows it should be

a^2+b^2=c^2

This not only sounds better but makes more sense. However next thing you know your teacher is introducing 3D pythag and it becomes

a^2+b^2+c^2=d^2

And now neither starting equation is very elegent! What is going on? Have americans gone even more insane than usual or is there just a differant american way of doing things?
Don't even get me started on Trig.

Well I finally have a semi functional template I can use at school which is nice.
If all goes well sometime in the near future I will be migrating to a private server thanks to Nick! Yay! I must do a post on his awesomeness some time soon!
We have house swimming tomorrow which should be pretty cool, I'm not swimming but I in charge of cheering! WOOO! If there was ever a job for me this is it!
I had a ride on the new horse today which went surprisingly well really. It's nice to be able to trot around outside and areana without the fear of death in me! I'll put up some photos of her soon!

Morgan
She is insane. In so many ways. Not as much as me but quite alot. Hehe. It is fun. She was in almost every hike group with me last year... Strange expiriances! Always good for a sing-a-long she was the pack horse of the group, carring just about every essential without (excessive) complaint! So firstly thanks for the carring and secondly thanks for the insanity!
She is also fully versed in the temper tantrum. Man Morgan, if this was star wars you would TOTALLY be a sith. No jokes man, she coulda turned one on Palpatine on the whole anger issue. It's kinda awesome to watch actually....

Tehe, I started a guild called to Time Lords and left it with a mate, I nearly won a lvling contest with a lvl 80 preist and I got hit on by guys in different time zones... strange world!

Well after three days straight of loading I finally got World of Warcraft to load on my electric beauty I got to create my own little horned purple Draenei hunter. Going my my lucky magic name Agganorth she's leveled up to lv14 in three days and has a kitty called Scruffy (a.k.a Scruffmeister or Scruffykins). Just cause it's fun to yell "Kill Scruffykins, KILL!" and get funny looks from mum and dad!
